Congratulations to USHJA Affiliates IEA and IHSA on Nationals Success
The Interscholastic Equestrian Association National Finals competition took place on April 27-30 at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina. Over 600 of the nation’s leading middle and high school equestrian athletes represented 206 different teams at the championship. USHJA sponsored individual Hunt seat classes and an exhibitor's celebration event in the Tryon Village.
The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association National Championship Horse Show took place May 4-7 in the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. Out of almost 400 teams nationwide, only 16 Hunt Seat can qualify for nationals. On Saturday, May 6, Elizabeth Nevins of Boston University took home the coveted USEF/Cacchione Cup Over Fences special award.

As the use of chest protection becomes more commonplace in the Hunter/Jumper disciplines, it is increasingly important that equestrian-specific research and testing be developed to determine a standard from which equestrian air vests can be evaluated. Join us for an interactive discussion with USHJA Safety Committee chair Joe Dotoli and Virginia Tech’s Dr. Duma and Dr. Miller to examine air vest use in equestrian sport, the need for research and development of an equestrian-specific standard, and how USHJA, along with Virginia Tech, aims to continue advancing safety within the sport.
