News and Updates for Competition Managers and Staff
November 2023
The following are important USHJA updates for competition staff at USEF-licensed competitions. Looking for quick and easy access to program specifications, host information, resources, forms and news you need in one place? Check here!
Don't forget to add a qualifying class for the USHJA 3'3" Adult Jumping Seat Medal! This class can be combined with the EMO Insurance/USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal qualifying class to fill either section, please note the rider section on your results to USEF. In order to combine, they must first be offered separately, but if less than three entries are in either class, they may be combined.
Riders may compete on a total of four ponies but no more than two of any one size.
Riders must complete the USHJA Exhibitor Declaration Form prior to the conclusion of the competition.
Competition management will remit complete overall results, including prize money awarded, to USHJA and the Federation within 10 days of the conclusion of the competition.
The Pony Hunter Derby is a featured class of the competition and must be presented as such with regard to arena size and location, jump quality, decorations, footing and ring preparation, lighting, etc. The ring used must have spectator seating, a quality sound system, and a dedicated announcer with no other duties during the Derby.
Each class must have a minimum of two judges. All judges will sit together and provide one score.
📣Send USHJA Your Competition Results and Prize Lists
Starting December 1, we request that all rated competitions copy USHJA on all competition results and digital prize lists as you would provide for other organizations.
All materials relating to USHJA competitions should be emailed to results@ushja.org.
We thank you for your commitment to supporting the competitors and owners of the Hunter/Jumper sport. If you have any questions, please contact Steve Curtis at scurtis@ushja.org or 859-225-6731.
🎉Outreach Manager Updates
2024 post-competition per horse fees will be increasing to $3/horse for standard competitions. Outreach Festivals will increase to $5/horse post-competition fee.
Don't forget to submit your 2024 host applications via your USHJA member portal area.
Best Practices to follow:
Include all applicable USHJA IDs in your results
Include the division name (Hunter, Jumper, Equitation/Medal) in all class titles
Include fence heights in all class titles
📝Become an Instructor Credential Host Facility
The Instructor Credential offers comprehensive online education, and in-person workshop and examination for riding instructors looking to enhance their teaching skills. These two-day Live Sessions are hosted year-round across the country, and USHJA needs new host facilities.
USHJA keeps up-to-date information on the Licensed Officials’ Resource page to keep you in the know while you’re on the go.
Due for a clinic in 2024? Virtual and in-person clinics for judges and course designers are posted. Judges and course designers must be USHJA Active/Competing members to renew their license(s).
Is your facility hosting a mounted or unmounted clinic? Getting your clinic posted to the USHJA Directory of Clinics is easy! Clinics on the Directory are promoted on the USHJA website, Zone eNews and social media.
