What do you like about the USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge?
I like HQC because it stresses knowing your horse. I believe that you must know how to make your horse the best in order to be the best. The HQC study guide offers information on all aspects of horses and is a great resource. I liked that HQC allowed us to show off our skills, while also learning new things.
What was it like to attend HQC Nationals last year?
Last year, HQC had some amazing clinics that we attended. One of my favorite clinics was that we got to dissect a horse leg! We also watched the EAP National Training Session mounted sessions, which were hosted by Peter Wylde. HQC taught me new things and opened my eyes to all of the opportunities that USHJA offers. All of the other finalists were very knowledgeable and encouraging. All of us became friends and still talk regularly.
You have also participated in several webinars, what do you like about the USHJA webinars?
I like that the USHJA webinars offer in-depth education on many different subjects. The webinars are easy to access and understand. The webinars helped me to study for HQC and were a great help.
What are your goals for the next couple of years?
Over the next couple of years, I want to expand on my riding skills. This year, I want to improve my equitation skills. After I graduate, I want to become a working student for a year. After that, I would like to go to college and study animal sports therapy and rehab.
What is your favorite thing about the USHJA community?
My favorite thing about the USHJA community is that there are many opportunities, and creates an environment where equestrians can connect and support each other. Programs like HQC help me to become a better equestrian.
