Allie Koss, of Scottsdale, Arizona, participated in the USHJA Outreach 2'6" Hunter and Equitation as well as the .80m Jumpers.
What did you enjoy about participating in the Outreach program in 2021?
I enjoyed competing in USHJA outreach classes at schooling shows and earning points.
Tell us how you got involved in the sport.
I got in to riding when I started taking horse classes at the zoo when I was four. Then I
started riding with my trainer Jill DeLozier when I was 6 years old, and I have never stopped because I love the sport so much.
What’s your favorite riding memory?
My favorite riding memory was when I cleared 3’3" at Four Reel Farm’s in the Gamblers Choice class. This was a big accomplishment for me since it’s the highest I have ever jumped and the highest my horse has ever jumped. It just seemed like all the hard work I have put in to training my 6-year-old Thoroughbred from when she was four was worth it.
What are riding goals for this year?"
My riding goals are to be successful in the 2’9"s and eventually move up to the 3’0" by the end of the year. I also want to working on collection with my horse and hopefully be able to establish a counter canter.
What do you enjoy most about the USHJA community?
I enjoy the friendships I have made within the USHJA community and how supportive everyone is.
