Abigail Wiener, of Lloyd Harbor, New York, participated in the USHJA Outreach Short Stirrup Equitation and the Outreach Short Stirrup Hunter divisions.
What did you enjoy about participating in the Outreach program in 2021?
I enjoyed participating in the outreach program in 2021. I love spending time with my pony “California” (aka Miss Perfect Princess Pony Pants). I love that I got to go out in the show ring so often - it was so much fun. I love making my trainers proud!
Tell us about how you got involved in the sport
I got involved in riding when I was three. My mom rides and wanted me to try riding too. On my fourth birthday I rode in my first horse show (leadline) and ever since then I have loved riding.
What’s your favorite riding memory?
My favorite riding memory was when I went to HITS for the first time ever last summer! That was the best week ever!
What are riding goals for this year?
My riding goals for this year are to compete in the Childrens' Divison. I hoping to go back to HITS at least twice this summer. I’m always working on having a better bond with my pony and making my trainers proud.
What do you enjoy most about the USHJA community?
I enjoy the USHJA community because it gives me the opportunity to ride my pony in competition plus I get to hang out with all of my horsey friends at the USHJA sponsored events.

If he were a famous person, he would be: Morgan Freeman.
If I could clone Jet 100 times, I would. He's sweet, laid back, happy to work, takes care of his rider, and good looking, too! He's the same at shows as at home; we always bring him to IEA and IHSA shows because he handles the environment, never putting a hoof wrong. He'll trail ride, load like a saint, and stand for everything. Jet really doesn't have a single flaw!
