Provide riders with a competitive team experience and an opportunity to earn Zone Horse of the Year points in the Children's and Adult Amateur Jumper (1.10/1.15m) and 1.20/1.25m Junior and Amateur. 

Markel/USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships

Part of the USHJA Emerging Jumper Program, the 1.30/1.35m category has moved from the Zone Jumper Team Championships to the Platinum Jumper Championships in addition to the 1.40/1.45m. For Professionals, Juniors or Amateurs.

USHJA Hunter Team Challenge

Offers a unique team experience for riders competing in the 2’-2’6” Children’s Pony Hunters, 2’6” Low Child/Adult Hunters and 3’ Children’s/Adult Amateur Hunter divisions. Riders can earn bonus Zone HOTY points in their respective divisions.

Gotham North/FEI North American Youth Jumping Championships

August 9-14

Great Lakes Equestrian Festival

Traverse City, Mich.

Championships for Children, Pre-Junior, Junior and Young Rider categories held in an international  format featuring teams fielded by zone as well as individual competition. 

USEF Pony Jumper National Championships

August 10-14

USEF Pony Finals

Lexington, Ky.

Junior pony riders compete over multiple days of competition. Teams are fielded by zone and individual competition at a maximum fence height of 1.15m.

Neue Schule/USEF Junior Jumper National Championships (Prix des States)

October 13-15

Pennsylvania National Horse Show

Harrisburg, Pa.

A competition for juniors featuring teams fielded by zone and individual championships at a maximum fence height of 1.45m.

Apply for a Zone 2 College Scholarship

Members can apply for a Zone 2 College Scholarship to help with their academic pursuits! Up to seven, $5,000 scholarships will be awarded. Apply by May 30!

Congratulations to our 2020 Zone 2 Horse of the Year year-end award recipients! The process of mailing year-end awards is underway and recipients should receive their awards in the coming months. Outreach Member Highlight: Mikayla Gadaleta

Mikayla Gadaleta, 10, of Kinnelon, New Jersey, participated in the Outreach Short Stirrup Hunter and Equitation sections this year. 

What did you enjoy about participating in the Outreach program in 2021?

I enjoy every aspect of horse showing and was able to participate in the Short Stirrup Hunter and Equitation Divisions this past year.

Tell us how you got involved in the sport.

I have always had a love for horses and riding. Living in Smoke Rise, I saw horses on a regular basis in my community and just had an affinity for the sport. From my first lessons when I was 5 years old, I knew that horse showing was the place for me.

What’s your favorite riding memory?

My favorite riding memory so far had to be having the opportunity to show on a grass course at Princeton Derby Day.

What are riding goals for this year?

This year I am looking forward to showing in the next divisions and building a relationship with a new horse partner.

What do you enjoy most about the USHJA community?

I am thankful for the USHJA community and the ability to share my love for horses and the sport alongside others with the same mindset within a supportive and encouraging organization.

Provides Adult Amateur exhibitors an opportunity to showcase their equitation skills over a 3'3" jumper-style course and a flat phase with bicoastal finals. View the calendar. 

USHJA Gladstone Cup Equitation Classic for Amateurs

New for Adult Amateurs in 2023! The three-round class combines the precision of equitation and handiness of hunters over a course set at 3’. Qualifying classes begin June 1, 2022 with inaugural Championship being held in 2023.

Nala

Adored by RRA Hunters Ridge of Lockport, New York.

A 34-year-old American Quarter Horse who has given lessons for 15 years.

Favorite Treat: Peppermints.

Nala is an ex-therapeutic riding horse. She is great at teaching all levels of riders. She loves to teach riders who have never ridden before because of her quiet, easy-going nature, however she has a great flying lead change and a big round jump for those looking for more horse!
