Save the Date for the Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships

Returning to Las Vegas November 14-20, 2022, pending USEF approva the Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships are unlike any other championship experience currently offered for the Hunter and Jumper disciplines.
 
Riders will compete for National titles in their sections and Horse of the Year points while enjoying a unique venue.

Grant and Scholarship Opportunities

The Hamel Family Scholarship for Further Education awards one or more USHJA members funds to be used for college, graduate, trade or professional school, totaling $25,000 each year. Apply by May 15!

The Emerson Burr Horsemanship Grant is awarded at the Zone and National level. Each winner at the zone level will receive a $100 grant to be used towards educational or equestrian related expenses. Junior riders competing in pony classes are eligible to participate in this program. Learn more and find a competition in your zone.

Join us in celebrating the true heroes of our sport! These devoted equines contribute to the development of top riders, the sport, and lifelong equestrians.

Elvenstar Harry Potter

Adored by RRA Elvenstar Farm Academy of Morepark, California.

A 27-year-old paint pony, 15 years giving lessons.

Favorite Treat: Skittles, red vines, peppermints, Jelly Bellys...anything else he can get! 

If he were a famous person, he would be: Why Harry Potter himself, of course!! Daniel  Radcliffe.

Elvenstar Harry Potter is kind and tolerant (but not lazy), great for teaching beginners to canter, and never minds being dressed up for Halloween! Many of our riders who took beginning lessons on Harry have gone on to show at the national level, including Augusta Iwasaki! He is a fabulous teacher and is worth his weight in gold.

Outreach Member Highlight: Eloise Cotteleer

Eloise Cotteleer, of Los Angeles, California, participated in the USHJA Outreach Hunter and Equitation divisions. 

What did you enjoy about participating in the Outreach program in 2021?

Setting a goal and working towards it throughout the show season. It made competing
more fun!

Tell us how you got involved in the sport?

I have loved horses for as long as I can remember. One of my first words was "horsey.” When I was really little all I wanted to do was be around them. My mom found a barn that would let me ride in their mommy and me program when I was 2 years old. I have
been riding ever since!

What’s your favorite riding memory?

There are so many, but one that stands out is last summer I won the derby at the Santa Barbara National horse show. It also happened to be my mom’s birthday, so it made the win really special.

What are your riding goals for this year?

To jump 3’ in competition and make it back to the USHJA National Championships.

What do you enjoy most about the USHJA community?

The friendships I have formed with my fellow riders and the support that I feel from the organization.
